Hey, I'm Mohammed Yassine — but everyone calls me Hami. The coding is only half of who I am. When COVID hit, the world didn't just slow down for my dev career. It hit everything. I found myself without work, no clear direction, just a lot of free time and a need to figure things out. That's when a close friend of mine — who was already working at a woodworking company — reached out and asked if I wanted to join him.

It was a small, specialized company focused on 'Sur Mesure' — fully custom-made furniture and interiors. Walk-in closets, kitchens, pharmacy fittings, retail displays, reception desks — everything built from scratch, tailored to the exact millimeter for each client. I had zero experience in the field, but I said yes. And honestly? It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I started from nothing. I didn't know what a cut list was, didn't understand material thickness, had never heard of Polyboard. But I threw myself into it the same way I threw myself into Python — with obsessive curiosity. I learned Polyboard inside and out — parametric furniture design, automatic hardware placement, material cost reports, 3D rendering. It became second nature.

Then came CorelDRAW. The company needed precise vector layouts for signage, branding, and detailed technical drawings. I picked it up fast and eventually became the go-to person for anything that needed clean, production-ready graphics. After that, I got into ArtCAM and Aspire for CNC carving — decorative panels, 3D relief work, intricate patterns that you just can't do by hand.

And the machines themselves — I didn't just design on screen. I learned to operate the CNC router, loading programs, setting tool paths, adjusting feeds and speeds. I even worked with a laser CNC for engraving and precision cutting. I'm not a machinist by trade, but I understand the full pipeline: from a client's sketch all the way to the finished piece coming off the machine.

That hands-on experience changed how I think about design. I don't just make things that look good in 3D — I make things that can actually be built, assembled, and installed without headaches. Every design I deliver comes with clean cut lists, hardware specs, and files ready for production. No guesswork, no surprises on the workshop floor.
